Collaborations to Take Action.

AN ENERGY CHALLENGE?

Show your support for innovation: become a partner of Défis d'ici!

Moving from Challenge to Project

THE CONCEPT

There are many energy challenges.
There are solutions, too.

Défis D’ici bridges the gap between the two.

The initiative enables companies, organizations, municipalities, and communities to present a real-world energy challenge and then connect with organizations that have the expertise, technology, infrastructure, research capabilities, or funding resources needed to move their project forward.

TARGET TOPICS

“Défis D’ici” is structured around five key drivers of energy transition.

Generating and Adopting New Renewable Energy Sources

Develop and integrate new sources of clean energy: solar, wind, green hydrogen, bioenergy, hybrid systems, etc.

Examples: local production · energy diversification · new production capacity

Improving Energy Efficiency and Reducing Carbon Emissions

Reduce consumption, waste, and emissions from buildings, processes, and regions.

Examples: energy recovery · waste heat · electrification · energy optimization · decarbonization

Digitize and Manage Energy Smartly

Leveraging data, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve energy production, consumption, and management.

Examples: smart grids · IoT · AI · real-time management · forecasting · peak shaving · predictive maintenance

Ensuring sustainable access in remote areas

Reduce dependence on fossil fuels in remote communities and infrastructure.

Examples: northern communities · outfitters · forest camps · northern greenhouses · hybrid systems · storage · diesel replacement

Social Innovation and the Development of New Models of Collaboration

Change practices, governance, and business models to accelerate the energy transition and encourage action.

Examples: engaging stakeholders · pooling resources · sharing infrastructure · new models of collaboration
