Key equipment related to the energy transition

• Two (02) wind turbines (with an installed capacity of 4 MW) that serve as a test bench for conducting research on the performance of wind energy in cold climates.
• A 3D scanning lidar for resource assessment.
• Two meteorological masts with around a hundred sensors for a better assessment of energy resource.
• OPAL-RT co-simulation platform (a small-scale replica of Nergica’s microgrid).
• Real-scale multisource microgrid with:
• 28 kW of photovoltaic solar power (single-sided and bifacial).
• 25 kW of wind power.
• 100 kW installed capacity diesel power plant (2 diesel generators of 50 kW each).
• A controllable load bank (for emulating any load profile).
• A 225 kVar STATCOM that works on power factor correction and voltage regulation.
• A synchronization relay that connects the microgrid to Hydro-Québec’s distribution grid.
• A compressed air energy storage system, and more.
