From ore to battery-quality products: metallurgical approaches and practical examples
To build a high-performance, sustainable battery industry, the quality of the materials processed depends directly on a detailed understanding of the ore upstream. Metallurgical studies play a strategic role from the earliest stages of mine development: they enable us to assess the technical feasibility of the project, design an optimal processing scheme and ensure the production of materials that meet the rigorous requirements of battery applications.
This workshop will present the key approaches to carrying out these studies at different stages of a project’s advancement, exploring the main metallurgical tests and unit operations. Drawing on concrete examples from Quebec projects, it will highlight how well-mastered data from the outset can not only reduce technical and financial risks, but also help build a competitive battery value chain, from deposit to battery materials.
